I have no idea how that mouse got up there—I just turned around and everyone was staring at the window. Nor do I have any idea what happened to it; I think it got down somehow and ran under the woodrack. No one has seen it since . . . (you can tell that we run a tight ship around here, can't you?) You can go on over to The Friday Ark to see what else has been going this week.
At any rate, Thanksgiving is behind us now, and if John's family didn't think I was strange before, they do now. We were in the kitchen and his sister was taking the meat off the turkey; when she finished, she reached for the trash can . . . . without really meaning to, I said, "You aren't going to throw that away, are you?" After a long pause, she asked, "Do you want it?" Well, I did; since we don't ever get to cook on Thanksgiving, I have no turkey noodle soup the next day. But I will this year! It's in the stockpot now, with some celery and carrots and onions; in an hour or so I can strain the broth and pick the little bits of meat off. I think I have some garlic-parsley noodles in the pantry, and there are still carrots out in the garden, and some more celery in the refrigerator; and when I go over to get the mail afterwhile I may pop into Ingles and pick up some mushrooms (and some more cranberries!), and perhaps a loaf of garlic bread . . . I could/should make bread, but Brian et al are visiting this morning, and we need to go visit Mom and Daddy this afternoon, and deliver some eggs to the market, so I won't be here.
Tomorrow. For sure.
I can tell that a spider has snuck up from our unfinished basement when I see the cats all staring at the same spot on the floor.
Throw away a turkey carcass?!? I can't imagine. The stock I made last night is waiting to become soup tomorrow, although I may freeze some for later. Enjoy your soup!

Yep, kitty-people are better than RADAR for detecting anything moving in a house! That lil' mouse was no dummy, either! He KNEW to get waaaaay up where the mighty hunters couldn't reach him. LOL! As for you being 'strange', I say it's strange to throw out the turkey carcass. I actually don't much care for turkey as the mainstay of the Thanksgiving meal. But SOUP from the stock later? A MUST HAVE! And garlic parsley noodles sound delicious! I'll be over in a minute!
